I am very pleased to announce that I have been awarded a 2010 YADDO Residency!
All my appreciation to the YADDO Institute!
Yaddo is an artists' community located on a 400 acre (1.6 km²) estate in Saratoga Springs, New York. Its mission is "to nurture the creative process by providing an opportunity for artists to work without interruption in a supportive environment"-- THANK YOU YADDO!
Milton Avery, James Baldwin, Saul Bellows, Leonard Bernstein,
Truman Capote, Aaron Copland, Philip Guston, Langston Hughes, Jacob Lawrence, Robert Lowell, Sylvia Plath-- are only a few of the great Yaddo artists.
Yaddo artists have won 64 Pulitzer Prizes, 27 MacArthurs, 61 National Book Awards, 24 National Book Critics Circle Awards, 108 Rome Prizes,
49 Whiting Writers' Awards, and a Nobel Prize -- so I will be joining a luminous community!
Meant to rhyme with "shadow", "Yaddo" is a word made-up by one of the children of the founders, Katrina & Stephen Trask.
Here is a photo of Katrina. Katrina was a writer.
